Round1 Introduces All-Ages Ultimate Entertainment Experience

Family Fun is Part of Mall Expansion that Includes New, Two-Story Center Court and  12+ Shops

SALINAS, Calif. – May 19, 2017 — Northridge Mall is pleased to announce that Round1 Entertainment, a state-of-the-art facility offering fun entertainment options for the entire family, is joining the mall. Round1 Entertainment is an experiential venue offering a wide range of entertainment options the whole family can enjoy, from kids to grandparents.

Round1 innovated the leisure stadium concept to provide guests with an a la carte selection of indoor activities, including bowling alleys, fully equipped karaoke booths, billiards, ping pong tables, top-of-the-line arcade games, and darts. The venue will serve beer, wine, and food. It will be located on the second level of the former JCPenney store and will be accessed through the new grand entrance under construction on the east side of the mall.

Construction begins on the new 45,000-square-foot entertainment complex in late 2017. Round1 is scheduled to open fall 2018. Round1 will have 19 locations throughout the U.S. by the end of 2017. Its parent company, Round One Corporation, is based in Japan where it has more than 100 locations.

Since purchasing Northridge Mall in 2013, Starwood Retail Partners continues to enhance and expand the mall’s shopping, dining and entertainment experiences. Last year, JCPenney relocated from their original store that separated the Macy’s and Sears sides of the mall. Their new 127,000-square-foot building on the mall’s west side houses the country’s largest in-store Sephora.

The former JCPenney store, currently under construction, will transform into a grand new, two-story Center Court. Scheduled to open fall 2017, the two-story atrium will include new seating areas and the addition of more than 12 retailers and restaurants. When completed, the new Center Court will join the North (Macy’s) and South (Sears) sides of the mall with a welcoming new common area, and creating a seamless shopping experience from end to end, never before experienced at Northridge Mall.

While the construction of the former JCPenney’s entrance and parking lot takes place, shoppers and guests can use the temporary walkway connecting the North (Macy’s) and South (Sears) mall areas or one of the mall’s other seven entrances including those at Macy’s (both east and west), Blazin' Bagels, Don Roberto's, the Food Court, Main Street Art Studio & Gallery, and Blaze Pizza.

Since 2013, Starwood Retail Partners has invested millions to update and improve Northridge Mall including both cosmetic upgrades and large-scale development projects, along with renovation, expansion and grand opening of many new retail stores. The center’s interior and exterior were painted, seating areas were installed, interior and exterior planters were redesigned, and the parking lot was resurfaced. The next phase of construction will include renovation of the public restrooms in the North mall, new restrooms in the new Center Court and new flooring throughout the entire mall.

In total, Starwood has brought in 19 retailers to Northridge including DSW, Carter’s/OshKosh, DSW, Pink, Ulta Beauty, Blaze Pizza and H&M, relocated nine stores including Victoria’s Secret, Vans, Crazy 8 and Work World, and expanded or remodeled 14 stores and restaurants including Blazin’ Bagels, Hollister, T-Mobile, Verizon and Shoe Palace.

Northridge Mall is the Salinas region's only indoor shopping mall and features more than 110 stores, restaurants and a 14-screen Cinemark Century Theatres. Stores include H&M, Macy’s, Vans, Forever 21, The Disney Store, Victoria’s Secret, Pink, Kay Jewelers, Charming Charlie, JCPenney, Foot Locker, DSW, Ulta Beauty and The Children's Place. Dining options range from Blaze Pizza and Hometown Buffet to Panda Express and Carl's Jr.
