From its location in Salinas directly next to Highway 101 at the Boronda Road exit, Northridge affords both strong freeway visibility and easy access to area residents as well as the 6.6 million leisure and 1.5 million business travelers visiting Monterey County each year. The picturesque Monterey Peninsula is just 18 miles from the mall, while Salinas hosts such popular annual events as The California Rodeo, California International Airshow and the world famous Steinbeck Festival. Salinas is also the employment center of Monterey County, supporting about one-third of all jobs in the county and projected to receive over 25 percent of countywide employment growth over the next 20 years. Although agriculture forms an economic base, sales and office employees make up close to 25% of the region's labor force.
